The proposed solution is based on previous efforts within the Ushahidi community to develop plugins allowing to report from (almost) any web-enabled device, with and without Internet connectivity.
The web-based application runs now on Android, iOS, Chrome, Safari and Firefox, and libraries have been extended to use the storage available in each one, allowing online-offline management.
The challenge is not an easy one, as most of the browsers are just starting implementing the web storage new standard, but we hope the app. will be soon tested in real-world situations. It is also a showcase of the possibilities offered by the new standard and, based on the released code, similar online-offline web apps could be developed for other web platforms.
